Everard Blackburn
was born at Auckland, New Zealand, and in 1958,
at the
age of 26, he went overseas for the opportunity to travel and
work throughout Europe. In Europe, he worked for the Royal
Canadian Air Force at Metz France for two years which
brought him to Canada in 1961, where he has resided in
Scarborough, except for six years spent in Western Canada
and in 2005 he became a resident of Brockville.
While
growing up, Everard, always pencil in hand, sketched
anything that caught his eye, but he never followed a career in art.
He entered the electrical industry where his artistic talent became
very useful when he was required to produce some technical drawing.
He remained in that industry until his retirement in 1997. On his retirement,
Everard decided to embark on his lifelong dream of painting and is mostly
self taught. Working mainly with oils, he has recently ventured
into the mediums of acrylic and watercolour. His paintings include
landscapes, skyscapes and wildlife.
