Norma was born in Montreal, Quebec and lived there for almost sixty years.
After a short career in
teaching primary school, where she intrigued her young pupils with her illustrations
and charactures, she
married and raised her own two children. She was very active with several
volunteer organizations,
working primarily with youngsters. Being widowed early, she threw herself
into the hobby she had
always loved, but never had time for – painting! She remarried in
2000 and spent a year in England where
she had the opportunity to immerse herself in the world of water colour.
Moving back to Canada, she and her
husband settled in Brockville, where she has continued her career in art.
The Brockville Newcomers’ Club
had a display of talents and it was at this event that she sold her first
two paintings.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
As a self taught artist, I could not have moved to a better community than
Brockville! I
have been surrounded by beauty, much exciting talent and study opportunities
at St Lawrence
College. I love working with bright colours and feel my paintings are deeply
rooted in nature. They have a
child-like whimsical quality to them.
